A WOMAN punched her boyfriend's lover in the face and scratched the word slag into her car during a 'crime of passion', a court heard.Naomi Gregory drove to Christine Black's Weston home after her boyfriend admitted to sleeping with her on a drunken night out in Newquay. The 18-year-old hairdresser pushed Black and punched her on the right cheek before using her keys to scratch the word slag into the bonnet and boot of her pink Peugeot 306.North Somerset Magistrates Court in St Georges also heard that she scratched a wave design up and down the side of the car, causing £1,015 of damage, on May 27.Black suffered swelling to her cheek which she described as painful when interviewed by officers.Gregory broke down in tears in the dock after finding out Jake Smith had been seeing Black for three years. She pleaded guilty to a charge of assault and another of criminal damage.Charles Hart, defending, said Gregory had been in a relationship with the 23-year-old since she was 15 and was devastated by the news.He said: "He is her first love and still is. This was a crime of passion from someone who has no previous convictions."Miss Gregory told her friends what had happened and they told her the victim had admitted what she had done to them. She describes the incident as a frenzy and she admitted it to police officers as soon as she was interviewed."Presiding magistrate Nassar Ali said: "We do feel there's some aggravated features to this case. We understand this is a crime of passion." Gregory, who lives in Nithsdale Road, Weston, was ordered to pay £55 costs and £1,215 compensation. She was also handed a two-year conditional discharge.
