YOUNGSTERS in Backwell and Yatton took on members of the police as part of a friendly football match.

Backwell School Pupils and members of Yatton Youth Club played against 18 officers from Nailsea, Clevedon and Portishead stations on December 22.

PCSO Kate Turner said: "We were approached by a member of the youth club who asked if a match against the police could be arranged and we thought it was a fantastic idea.

"It's great to provide young people in the area with a fun outlet over the Christmas holidays.

"Activities like this allow us to get to know the younger community on our beat and ultimately helps us to address any issues of anti-social behaviour.
