A group of eight teenagers from Weston-super-Mare entertained crowds at the seafront while taking part in the National Citizen Service's summer programme.

As part of the scheme the teens have to give something back to the community and so sang on the seafront to raise money for Weston Foodbank.

The group raised more than £300 and collected an impressive pile of food.

Nicole Davison, aged 16, volunteered, and said: “We chose the foodbank because it would benefit from what we were doing and we all agreed it would be a very rewarding charity to help.”

Foodbank manager, Frederique Wigmore, said: “It has been a delight to welcome this group of young people.

“We felt truly blessed that they chose our organisation and hope they now will go on having gained a good understanding of how a foodbank works and be inspired to volunteer in the future. We wish them all the best.”
