TWO supported living schemes increased recognition of community mental health issues as part of a national project.

Tenants from Sanctuary Supported Living (SSL) on Moorland Road, and Weston Foyer on St Ives Road visited the Beach Lawns Nursing Home to prune plants, trim shrubs and maintain flowerbeds for Mental Health Awareness Week.

After finishing work in the garden, the residents joined SSL tenants for a relaxed chat over tea and cake at the home.

Howard Symonds, Weston Foyer’s local service manager, said: “Mental health is an issue that can affect people of any age, from any background, and visiting Beach Lawns is a perfect chance for our tenants to get involved in the local community and share their experiences with others.”

SSL provides supported accomodation for people with mental health needs and Weston Foyer supports those aged 17-25.
