A TEXT vote has been launched to ask people in Weston whether they would like a casino in the town.Weston's prospective MP Mike Bell has set up the interactive poll and people can vote by text message, email and online. The results will be put before North Somerset Council in November when councillors will vote on whether to support a 'no casino' resolution. This would mean the council would not issue any casino licences in the district.Cllr Bell said: "I want as many people as possible to have a say on the possibility of a casino in Weston. "So I've set up three easy ways in which residents can join the debate, via an online poll on my website, using a text message or by email."I believe this is one of the first text polls to ask residents to have a direct say on an issue facing their town. "I don't believe that we should rush ahead and grant a casino licence for Weston, but I don't think we should close the door on the possibility either."I think we should consider any applications for a casino on their merits."The question is: "Are you, in principle, supportive of having a casino in Weston?"To vote by text send MIKEBELL POLL YES or MIKEBELL POLL NO to 07766 404142 (normal sender's rate).
