POLICE in Puxton and Hewish have warned residents to be on their guard against a rise in garage and shed thefts in the area.

At a meeting of Puxton and Hewish Parish Council, PC Steven Church said nine crimes had been reported in the parish over the period of April.

Out of those, he said many were petty thefts, including the taking of items from garden sheds.

He called on people to review the security at their homes in a bid to stop the offenders.

The police officer also reported there had been a recent prosecution for fly-tipping in Puxton.
