THIEVES have made away with thousands of pounds worth of lead from a listed building.
Executive committee member for the National Piers Society, Mike Davies, said they made off with the heavy material from the pier master's cottage and two neighbouring buildings in front of Birnbeck Pier in Weston last Thursday evening.
He said: "They ripped out the lead and damaged lots of tiles as well.
"They must have needed a van of some sort to take all that lot away as it would have been very heavy."
If anyone witnessed the incident they should call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
