TEENAGERS are being followed home by thieves who want to steal their prized possessions - according to a concerned mother.Sarah Evans, of Langford Road, Weston, says there has been a spate of thefts of motocross bikes in the area and she believes the culprits are following owners home to see where the valuable machines are kept.Sarah's son, 14-year-old Mike, and his friend Kane Yandell, aged 15, had their bikes stolen from a lock-up off Winterstoke Road, Weston, on January 2, after using them on a track behind Lidl supermarket in Worle.Kane had been given his new bike, worth £1,000, as a Christmas present just days before.Sarah, aged 40, said: "There is information going around that bikes are being stolen to order. "People at the track are warning the kids not to go straight home as the thieves could follow them to find out where the bikes are kept."My son had his first bike stolen in September from our house and we bought him a new one, which he did up. Mike took his bike to Kane's lock-up and it also got stolen."Dozens of bikes have been stolen recently and one man had four taken."I'm concerned for my son's safety as nobody would have known where the bikes were kept unless they followed him. The thieves know which bikes to target.A police spokesman said: "A number of motocross bikes have been stolen recently but we can't prove that people are being followed home. However, no more than four bikes have been stolen since the beginning of this month."If anyone has any information about any of the bike thefts they should call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
