ONE in five women in North Somerset are missing out on potentially life-safe smear tests.
Thousands of women in the district are risking their lives by failing to go for routine cervical screening checks, according to latest figures released by the NHS.
More than 20 per cent of women aged 25 to 49 are not getting tested for pre-cancerous cells every three years.
Cervical screening is offered to women free on the NHS.
Women aged between 25 and 49 are offered the test every three years, and women aged between 50 and 64 are offered it every five years.
