A SOMERSET dog charity is currently looking for donations after four puppies in need of eye surgery were brought into its care.

Maggie, Mildred, Mystic and Marble, the female cocker spaniels, were brought to Dogsfriends’ centre in Bleadon a couple of months ago with bi-lateral cataracts.

The dogs were brought in by a breeder from South Wales after a vet advised them their condition was hereditary and they could not be bred.

One of the pooches, Marble, has been lucky enough to get an operation and is doing well, but the other three still need medical help – at a cost of £2,500 each - otherwise they will go blind.

The charity has recently attended Portishead Flower Show with donation buckets and raised £87 for the dogs, but is calling out for more help. To donate or get a fundraising form visit www.dogsfriends.me.uk
