AN EVENING of music helped Wrington Vale Rotary Club raise more than £2,000 for a healthcare appeal.

Rotarians and music lovers packed the Meeting House at Sidcot School in Winscombe to enjoy performances from pianist Colin Bell and soprano soloist Zoe Maitland, who was accompanied by Paul Beechey on piano.

The evening raised £2,450 through donations and ticket sales and will be added to the Rotary’s Heartworks Appeal, which aims to raise enough money to install a specialist piece of equipment in a South West hospital.

A spokesman for Wrington Vale Rotary said: “The concert was a great success and people have said how good it was to have two professionals give away their services for free.

“Both performers were outstanding and it was tremendous to hear them play.”
