WOODLAND Lawn Tennis Club’s ladies went back in time to mark the club’s centenary.

Long skirts, blouses and straw boaters were donned as members enjoyed an Edwardian-themed evening of tennis which also featured underarm serves.

More than £100 was raised for Cancer Research at the event, which was held at the club’s base in Woodland Road, Weston.

Club secretary Annie Buckingham said of the celebrations on May 16: “It was marvellous to see the amount of effort everybody had put into their outfits and playing with wooden rackets wasn’t as tricky as we thought.”
