PORTISHEAD'S civic amenity site is set to re-open in mid December - nine months after it was closed on health and safety grounds.North Somerset Council confirmed, although the date was not set in concrete, it expected the Valley Road site to be open again on December 18.Waste bosses were hoping to partially re-open the site while the final work was completed, but this has been ruled out.North Somerset Council spokesman Zoe Briffitt said: "If we partially re-opened the site, we would only have to close it for two days again to prepare for the full opening."The recycling centre is now due to open on December 18."The tip closed in April following concerns about the safety of the rock face. But repair work was delayed because of nesting peregrine falcons on the cliff face. The contract for the repairs was finally awarded in September. The tip will still be open to the public seven days a week from 8-4.30pm.
