BUSINESSES in Somerset should be careful who they sell cigarettes to.
The new age limit for purchasing tobacco was raised from 16 to 18 years old in October and although Trading Standards have not yet carried out spot checks, up to 30 checks are planned before the end of the year.
Checks in 2006/07 for the age limit of 16 showed that 89 per cent of businesses refused to sell tobacco products to an under age youngster.
