WESTON Town Council's policy and resources committee has recommended the precept for the town council as £781,661, a 4.6 per cent increase on last year
WESTON Town Council's policy and resources committee has recommended the precept for the town council as £781,661, a 4.6 per cent increase on last year. The figure was decided at a meeting of the committee in Grove House on December 18. Councillor Keith Morris proposed cutting the money spent on youth projects in the town as well as funds for Flower Power but his ideas were outvoted.Cllr Mike Bell said: "It seems like Cllr Morris has given us a list of all the things that are popular and he wants to cut them. Flower Power is one of the single most effective things the council has done and it's very cost effective because a lot of it is done by volunteers, so quite how we can cut costs is beyond me."Cllr Derek Kraft also proposed axing some of the cash given to Uphill Village Society but his suggestion was not carried. If it is agreed the town council will cost each household £30.27 next year. The precept will be decided on at the next full town council meeting in January.
