Burnham and Highbridge Town Council has voted to reject plans to demolish a former church amid concerns ‘a part of Highbridge’s history would be lost’.

The owners of the former Gospel Hall church in Newton Road have lodged a demolition order with Sedgemoor District Council but the town council has decided to voice its concerns.

Highbridge councillor John Parkes said: “I am concerned that another part of Highbridge’s history would be lost. We have no information about any plans for the site.”
