HEALTH Secretary Jeremy Hunt has described a Weston dentist practice as a 'role model' for the rest of the country.

The Secretary of State was full of praise for DA&C Houston & Associates on Friday after unveiling a plaque to commemorate its £350,000 refurbishment.

He was joined by Weston MP John Penrose for a guided tour of the Milton Road site by co-owners David and Ceri Houston.

Mr Hunt was shown a couple of the 26 surgeries now spread across four buildings and was impressed with what had been achieved.

He said: “I think these facilities are extremely impressive and really are a role model for 21st century dentistry.”

Mr Houston opened the practice 23 years ago with his wife Ceri and has seen the business grow rapidly.

It now provides routine and specialist care for 70,000 patients every year, employing more than 100 people.

He said the practice has grown with Weston and offers everything from routine dental work to botox and has its own laboratories - making it reportedly the largest dentist practice on a single site in the UK.

Mr Penrose said he was impressed with the changes and technology on offer, stating it was ‘something for Weston to be proud of’.
