CONSULTANTS are conducting research which could lead to Nailsea residents' vision for their town being outlined in a parish plan.Up to £10,000 has been set aside so experts can compile a report setting out the key factors which will influence the town's development over the next two decades. The researchers will present their initial findings to Nailsea town councillors in July and are expected to produce their final report the following month.Members of the town council will then decide whether to compile a parish plan.If the document were to be drawn up, it would act as a blueprint for the town's development over the next 20 years. The consultants' findings, and the views of local organisations and residents, would be used to compile it.Nailsea Town Council's clerk, Ian Morrell, said: "When Nailsea Town Council discussed the development of a parish plan it became clear that proper public consultation was a critical part of putting one together. It was felt that the parish council shouldn't go out to public consultation until some research had been done about how Nailsea is expected to develop over the next 20 years."There are a lot of diverse views in the town, and issues around affordability and acceptability, and things that will constrain development, like money and legal restrictions."The research the consultants are doing will make sure residents understand what's possible and what's not."The consultants' report will present a clear picture of where Nailsea is now and what is needed to develop the town."Nailsea town councillor Phil Barclay said: "Compiling a parish plan is not about raising people's hopes that they are going to get this, that or the other, but about being realistic about what is possible in Nailsea within the next 20 years.
