A HISTORIC chapel in Weston is opening to the public for another season of tours, when volunteers will be on hand to help trace family trees.

The Victorian building in Milton Road Cemetery will open from 1.30-3.30pm and on the second Saturday of each month until the autumn.

The cemetery and chapel are maintained by Weston Town Council and volunteers in the Friends of Weston Cemetery help by manning the building during these open sessions.

Members of Weston Family History Society will also be on hand to help visitors locate family graves, many of which date back to the mid-19th century.

Students from Worle Community School have taken part in a photography course in the cemetery and their photos will be featured in a display.

Cemetery Friends chairman John Crockford-Hawley said: “With a growing interest in family history we are receiving many more requests for information about burial sites and the help given by local historians is invaluable to this research.”
