A NATIONAL rail giant has announced plans to improve the track around the Worle junction - but there are no plans for improvements at the station itself.Network Rail revealed this week how it plans to re-model the Worle junction and also double a section of line just short of the Weston Milton to Worle junction. The work is scheduled to be carried out between 2009 and 2010 but the company has confirmed that it has no plans to carry out works at Worle Parkway station. However, North Somerset Council's executive member for strategic planning and economic development, Councillor John Crockford-Hawley, says he is still hopeful the extra improvements will happen at stations in the area.He said: "We have known for some time that another platform at Weston station would also be advantageous to local travellers."North Somerset Council will continue pressing for this, despite there being no firm commitment by the industry."Plans to lengthen platforms and create a bus and coach exchange at Worle's station are in the council's local transport plan.
