TRAFFIC has been clogging up the roads around Weston since a new phase of roadworks started.

TRAFFIC has been clogging up the roads around Weston since a new phase of roadworks started.

Since September gas and water pipes, which are no longer fit for service, have been replaced along the seafront.

The current diversion means there is no access into the Royal Hotel car park from Royal Parade until March and a one-way system is in place along Knightstone Road until June. So traffic has been queuing near the diversions.

Work is in phases so it will not affect the whole seafront all of the time.

Some of the gas pipes being replaced date from the days when Weston had gas street lamps on the seafront and are well past their useful life.
