A group of travellers who were evicted from Weston-super-Mare’s Beach Lawns today (Friday) have moved to Clarence Park.

North Somerset Council received a possession order from court earlier today.

Bailiffs served the order on the travellers and evicted them from the lawns.

The group has now moved to Clarence Park, in Walliscote Road.

Because it is so close to the weekend, the council will not have time to get another court order, and proceedings may have to start after the bank holiday.

A council spokesman said police were aware and would monitor the situation over the weekend.
