A CLERGYMAN who preached extensively across the region has been described as 'lovely' by his daughter following his death last Thursday after losing his fight against pneumonia.
The Rev Peter Gentry, who died aged 86, was a minister in Weston during the 1970s and toured local Methodist churches in Cheddar and Banwell after moving back to the area when he retired in 1990, following stints in Southampton and Scotland.
His daughter, Catherine Heycock said the family would miss him a great deal following his death.
She said: “He was an absolutely gorgeous man. He was loving and very knowledgeable.”
Dr Gentry was a keen author and wrote many books during his lifetime including Heritage of the Warmed Heart and Tramways of the West of England – a subject very close to his heart.
