A long-standing Worle councillor has died.
Cllr Frederick Parsons started representing North Worle on Weston Town Council in 2011.
He also served for many years on Woodspring District Council and North Somerset Council.
A town council spokesman said: “We are saddened to hear of the death of Cllr Frederick Parsons.
“Councillor Parsons served on Weston Town Council since 2011, but before that he served for many years on North Somerset Council and Woodspring Borough Council.
“Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.”
Cllr Sarah Codling said on Facebook: “Similarly sad to hear of Fred’s passing. A true gentleman, model of public service and a warm friend. Sincere condolences to his family.”
Cllr Parsons regularly attended North Worle Forum, which gives residents, police and councillors the chance to discuss any issues in the area.
North Somerset Council’s deputy leader, Elfan Ap Rees, said on Twitter: “Very sad news indeed.
“Fred was a long-serving and well-liked member of North Somerset Council and before that Woodspring District Council, always working in the best interests of his constituents.”
A full tribute will be in the Weston Mercury on Thursday.
