THREE intrepid walkers from Weston are trekking through Peru in a bid to raise £7,000 for Weston Hospicecare.
Sonia Fox, Sarah Slade and Richard Davies have embarked on a 10-day trip to Machu Picchu, which will take them through stunning scenery at an altitude of about 4,000 metres above sea level.
Richard, who lost his partner Karen to cancer in 2002, said: “I decided I wanted to do this for Weston Hospicecare because of the care it was able to give Karen while she was ill with cancer.
“The support the hospice gave both of us was amazing.”
The fundraiser from the hospice, said: “We are really looking forward to hearing their stories upon their return.
“What they are doing for the hospice is amazing and everyone at Weston Hospicecare wishes them a safe trip and the best of luck.”
