A TRIO of Burnham residents picked up civic awards at the town’s annual ceremony last weekend.

Les Barber, an organiser of the town’s Project Coach initiative, Alun Davies, a member of the Burnham Food Bank team, and former mayor Neville Jones received their awards at a ceremony at St Andrew’s Church on Sunday.

Current mayor Michael Clarke paid tribute to their ‘commitment and dedication’ to Burnham and Highbridge.

Mr Barber helped Burnham reach the finals of a national coach awards for three years in a row, while Cllr Clarke paid tribute to Mr Davies’ work ‘day-in, day-out’ to help those in need.

Mr Jones, who has previously received an OBE, retired as a town councillor at the election in May, and was described as the ‘driving force’ for many organisations in the town over many years.
