Weston’s Sand Sculpture Festival has earned a certificate of excellence.

The award has come from the tourism review website TripAdvisor, which recognises businesses and attractions which receive good travel reviews from visitors.

To qualify for the certificate, the festival, which is now in its 12th year had to have at least four stars.

Nicola Wood, co-founder of the festival said: “To be number two on the list of 41 things to do in Weston is a fantastic compliment from our visitors.

“We are grateful for all the reviews, good and bad because this keeps us sharp.

“This recognition reflects our company’s culture. We have a close team and this is a nice achievement.”

The festival’s theme is topsy-turvy and features some unusual images, including American President Donald Trump’s head on a pig’s body.

The festival, near the SeaQuarium and Tropicana, is open until October.
