MASSIVE marrows, pristine parsnips and colossal cucumbers were on show at a keenly contested Cheddar Flower Show on Saturday.

Exhibitors filled the Kings of Wessex Academy display hall with a range of colourful, over-sized and tasty entries.

As well as traditional categories for flowers, fruit and veg, contestants battled for trophies recognising their excellence in cookery, sewing, knitting, art, photography and wine.

Trish Moss-Williams scooped top honours in four classes, while Bill Maggs, Anne Travis and Pauline Goodfellow triumphed in two apiece.

There were also categories for children, won by Daniel Davies and Francesca Booth.
