CAMPAIGNERS opposed to proposals for the planned £30million revamp of Weston's beleaguered Tropicana site have launched a website.
Friends of Our Tropicana (FOOT) is lobbying residents to write to North Somerset Council urging it to reject plans by developers Henry Boot for a hotel and leisure complex on the seafront site
Plans for Lifestation@Tropicana, as the new development will be called, will include a multiplex cinema, a shopping precinct, and a bowling alley.
They are due to go before the unitary authority next month.
Henry Boot held a series of public consultations last year attended by more than 1,000 residents.
The opposition group's website www.westontropicana.org.uk lists 20 reasons why it believes North Somerset should reject the plans, including its current proposed height and the risk of flooding.
The group will hold a meeting at The Blakehay in Wadham Street on March 8 to give residents an opportunity to have their say.

Liberal Democrat prospective parliamentary candidate Mike Bell also launched a website dedicated to debating the Tropicana development. It can be found at www.tropicanawatch.org.uk
