A CONCERNED Weston resident is holding a special meeting about the town's beleaguered Tropicana next week. Richard Whittington, of Atlantic Road South, is campaigning against Henry Boot Developments' £25million plans to revamp the seafront site.He has called the meeting as part of his efforts to get North Somerset Council to drop the firm's proposals for a hotel, pool and leisure complex. Mr Whittington launched a petition against the plans earlier this year.He said: "I have met countless former Tropicana visitors and employees, all of whom regret the loss of one of the jewels in Weston's crown and were happy to sign our petition." More than 6,000 people have signed the petition so far.Henry Boot had intended to submit a planning application to the council in August, but it is now not due until February 2008.Mr Whittington will be chairing the meeting at the Winter Gardens on October 24 at 7.30pm.
