Banksy’s Grim Reaper exhibit at Dismaland has inspired North Somerset Council to create a new live music venue inside the Tropicana in Weston-super-Mare.
The council has opened the Reaper Bar inside the venue – which was formerly home to Banksy’s Dismaland – after working with the organisers of Weston’s Hazy Days festival. The bar will initially see six nights of live music, featuring artists from across the South West.
The council’s executive member for tourism Felicity Baker said: “We are keen to establish the Reaper Bar as a premium event space as part of the future redevelopment of the Tropicana venue as an entertainment and cultural venue.”
There will be one evening of music each month, starting on Saturday when nine-piece reggae-rock band Bless’ed Roots will headline. They will be supported by The Marginal and David 9 Lunas. Entry is free and doors will open at 7pm.
