A FORMER RNLI crew member used his 40th birthday celebrations to raise money for the life-saving charity.

Troy Dunstone, who used to volunteer with the Weston branch of the national charity, still keeps in touch with former colleagues.

When the former Priory Community School pupil celebrated the milestone birthday at Weston's VII nightclub on January 11, Troy and his friends raised £1,000 for the RNLI.

The crew will be putting the money towards new pieces of equipment to help them save lives at sea.

VII's Vassos Sangolis and Troy both hope to organise a larger event to raise funds for the RNLI in the summer.
