TELEVISION great John Craven was on hand to help Wedmore celebrate its 100th harvest home.

The Countryfile presenter spoke to the crowd at the event, which also featured a performance by West Country legends The Wurzels.

To mark the occasion an anniversary souvenir newspaper was delivered to every home in the village prior to Friday’s extravaganza.

It was kicked off in traditional style by the procession, which saw dozens of the village’s youngsters dressing up in a variety of colourful costumes.

After the harvest king, queen and princess were crowned the procession was led through the village to the venue of the event in Blackford Road.

Prizes were handed out to children and adults in a range of classes, from costumes to vintage tractors and bikes.

The youngsters then had time to tire themselves out in a range of games on the nearby playing fields before everyone tucked in to the obligatory hog roast.
