A TEAM of young Weston baton twirlers turned in an impressive performance at a national competition - but it was their parents who really left their rivals in a spin.
The Eclipse Twirlers attended the National Baton Twirling Association championship finals in Torbay during half-term.
The group, taking part in the competition for the first time, gained ‘valuable experience’, according to leaders – with youngster Trudy Thomas picking up places in three categories.
However, it was the twirlers’ parents who stole the show, when their routine to Alvin and the Chipmunks scooped first place in the parents’ fun category.
Spokesman Jason Belcher said: “It ended up in a standing ovation and the group walking away with the national title.”
