Emergency services were called to Burnham-on-Sea following an incident which saw somebody trapped in a crashed car after failing to stop when ordered by police.

Police, ambulance and fire crews were all called to Adam Street after a driver refused to stop for police and later crashed into a car shortly after 3.30pm on Tuesday.

The crash left people trapped inside the damaged vehicle and in need of help from emergency crews.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews from Burnham and Bridgwater were mobilised to a report passed to fire control of a road traffic collision with persons trapped inside the vehicle.

“Upon arrival crews found a two-vehicle collision, with one vehicle failing to stop at the scene.

“Crews assisted ambulance and police in stabilising the vehicle and attending to the casualty at the scene.

“His injuries are not believed to be serious.”
