POLICE are appealing for information following a fatal crash in Backwell which claimed the lives of two pensioners.The crash happened on an unclassified road called Cooks Bridle Path in the village near Bristol International Airport around 4.20pm on June 9.A Ford Escort was travelling along the road and negotiating a left hand bend when it collided with a post.The driver, a man thought to be in his 80s, died at the scene.A passenger in the car, a woman, thought to be of a similar age, was airlifted to Frenchay Hospital, Bristol, with serious injuries. Despite medics battling to save her, she died on Saturday evening.There were no other occupants in the car and no other vehicle was involved.Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact the force's collision investigation unit on 0845 4567000.
