Two people have died after two cars collided in Winscombe on Monday, prompting a police appeal for witnesses.

A silver Mitsubishi Outlander and a blue Vauxhall Mokka collided on a bend on the A38, just before 6pm.

A 50-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the Vauxhall, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver – a 54-year-old man – later died of his injuries, having been taken to hospital.

The driver of the silver Mitsubishi remains in hospital in a serious condition after suffering life-threatening injuries.
