TWO women were helped by firefighters after they were involved in a vehicle collision near Blagdon last night.

The women, both in their 40s, were travelling in a Nissan Micra at Burrington Coombe at around 7.55pm when they collided with a second car.

One Avon Fire and Rescue engine from Blagdon and the pump and rescue tender from Weston attended the scene, and assisted one of the women, who did not have any serious injuries, out of the vehicle.

The second woman had an apparent neck injury, so firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to free her from the car, and she was put on a spinal board and taken to Weston General Hospital by ambulance. Her injuries are not said to be life threatening.

It is not thought the occupants of the second vehicle suffered any injuries.
