Man needs 30 stitches after ‘unprovoked’ town centre assault

A man required 30 stitches after sustaining a serious injury in an assault while waiting for a taxi in Weston-super-Mare town centre.

He was one of two men who suffered an unprovoked attack outside Apple Central Taxis in The Centre.

Police today (Friday) issued an appeal for witnesses to come forward.

The incident happened at about 3am on July 15.

A police spokesman said: “A group of people were in the area waiting for taxis.

“Two men were assaulted in an unprovoked attack. One of them received a serious facial injury, which required 30 stitches.

“There were three suspects, one of whom was wearing a cream coloured top.

“We’re keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time who may be able to help us.”

Anyone who can help Avon and Somerset Constabulary with their investigation is asked to call 101 and should quote reference number 5218157770.
