A WOMAN had to be cut out of a car following a town centre car crash in Weston this afternoon (Mon).

A collision between a red Citroen Saxo and a Peugeot van happened at about 2pm on Lower Church Road near to St Johns Church.

A police spokesman initially said three people were injured in the crash, when the force, Avon Fire and Rescue and Great Western Ambulance service are currently at the scene.

But it later turned out that the female car passenger, believed to be in her 20s, had to be cut free and placed on a spinal board before being taken to hospital.

None of the other three were seriously hurt but all were taken Weston General Hospital.

The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident but the accident has now been cleared.
