THE strong winds and heavy rain that have battered the region over the past week will ease off ahead of the weekend, according to the Met Office.

Severe weather warnings that it put out at the start of the week have now been reduced following several days of horrible weather conditions.

Gales caused disruption across the county and ripped the roof off a lorry on the M5 on Tuesday morning, bringing long delays to motorists.
