Alert issued for flooding across Somerset this week

A flood alert is in force across Somerset today (Monday).

Strong onshore winds will cause tide levels to rise in Kingston Seymour, Uphill and Burnham-on-Sea this evening.

High water has been forecasted for 8.15pm and the warning is due to be in place until Thursday.

A spokesman for Flood Alerts Somerset said: “Tides are currently rising and we will be re-issusing this flood alert, which is likely to remain in force until Thursday.

“The forecast tide level is 6.86m and wind strength and direction is force four south westerly.

“The second forecast high water is at 8.45pm tomorrow (Tuesday) where the forecast tide level is 6.79m and wind strength and direction is force four south westerly.”
