A long-term Weston Foodbank volunteer has had her head shaved to help support the charity.

Val Flack, aged 72 from Burnham, decided to have a sponsored haircut to help raise funds towards purchasing essential items for the summer months.

Val has so far raised £600 through sponsorship and went under the shaver at Ruby’s Hair Boutique in Orchard Place.

Foodbank manager Frederique Wigmore said: “The whole team is so grateful for Val and all those who support us throughout the year.”

The charity provided emergency food parcels to more than 4,500 people in the community last year.

The money will also go towards funding the Eat Well Spend Less six-week course covering budgeting and cooking skills.
