TWO boys who damaged the chocolate garden on the Bournville estate will be made to fix the damage they caused.

The boys, both aged between 10-12, climbed onto a gazebo roof in the public gardens and damaged some of the decorations on it.

A neighbour whose house overlooks the gardens saw the boys and called the CCTV camera operators, who kept the footage of the damage being caused.

One boy has since written a letter of apology but the other will meet with members of the police and Bournville Area Residents’ Association (BARA) to learn why what he did was wrong.

BARA helped raise £108,000 to build the garden in 2010.

It opened in April this year.

Chairman Ann Riney said: “The idea is that we give the children the opportunity to put it right by getting them to help fix it.

“We said to them: this is your estate, why do you want to wreck it?”
