SCORES of youngsters in Weston could be left without a football pitch after a spate of antisocial behaviour.Over the past month, a group of youngsters has been smashing glass bottles in the car park and on the sports pitches in Drove Road and North Somerset Council is now considering closing it down. The council is concerned the area is unsafe for people to use and the three pitches could be decommissioned.Sergeant Gareth Starr, from the south ward beat team, said: "The damage has been going on for about a month, but it intensified at the weekend. Bottles have been smashed outside the changing rooms and on the grass pitches."We are increasing patrols there and at the Maltlands where we have had similar damage. The last thing we want is the decommissioning of the pitches because it will prevent a lot of people from taking part in activities."The fencing around the play area in the Maltlands has also been broken beyond repair and a number of youngsters have been vandalising the area.Anyone with any information about the incidents is asked to call Avon and Somerset Constabulary on 0845 4567000.
