THREE people were arrested in Burnham after vandals caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage to businesses in the town centre.

The damage was caused after Sunday night’s firework display following an incident at Michael’s Bar in The Esplanade.

Following the incident the youths smashed up chairs outside The Reed’s Arms, which were then used to smash the windows of nearby businesses.

Michael’s Bar and Books and Puzzles and Fortes in Pier Street all suffered damage in the frenzy of vandalism.

Jo Cooke, of Books and Puzzles, said: “The glass on one side of our double door was smashed, which could cost between £300 and £400 to repair.

“It’s made me angry and annoyed because this isn’t the first time that something like this has happened, and things like this are happening far too much in Burnham.”
