DESPITE seeing the lowest number of exhibitors for the past four years, the Hutton Show still saw some excellent entries from across the region.

Although vegetable and fruit entries were especially hard hit, there were still 679 entries and another 600 from local schools and preschools at the show held in St Mary’s Field off St Mary’s Road on Saturday.

Among the big winners on the day was Weston’s Joe Thomas, who in his 55th year of exhibiting at the show took the MJ Hart Cup for best rose.

Bill Maggs from Langford collected several trophies for his superb vegetables and Brian Cooper collected the photographers trophy to add to his John Lovell trophy for most points in the villagers’ vegetables classes.
