A CLEVEDON vicar has been charged with a string of sexual offences against children.Father David Smith, aged 51, of St John's Church faces 15 allegations relating to alleged incidents which took place over the past 30 years.He has been charged with 10 counts of indecent assault, one count of gross indecency, one of incitement to gross indecency and one of grooming a child into his trust.He has also been charged with two counts of sexual assault.He is due to appear before North Somerset Magistrates court tomorrow (Thurs).Father Smith, who has been vicar at St John's since 1993, has been suspended from duty and will remain so until the outcome of the case.
