A COUPLE'S wedding has been touched by 'a miracle' after the bride found out she was pregnant 'against all odds'.Doctors told Vicky Hill it would almost impossible for her to have children after undergoing gruelling chemotherapy in a battle against cervical cancer. But the 26-year-old walked down the aisle last Saturday at St Mary's Church in Wedmore after beating all the odds to not just survive but also become pregnant.Husband Rob Sweet, aged 34, said: "We thought having children would be impossible. It's a miracle and we're beside ourselves with joy."Just days after Rob proposed to Vicky, the tumour was discovered at a routine doctor's appointment. At just 25-years-old she was crushed when she was told she would have to have a hysterectomy, followed by chemotherapy or radiotherapy.During four months of intensive chemotherapy at the Oncology Centre in Bristol, Vicky lost her hair and suffered severe side affects like nausea and dangerously high temperatures, but she did not have to have a hysterectomy.Rob, of Blakeway, explained: "It has been a roller coaster for the last 18 months."The chemotherapy worked but we were warned the cancer was very aggressive and if it came back it would not be curable."The doctors said if Vicky finished her treatment with a bout of radiotherapy there would be less chance of the cancer coming back."However, they also told her the 30 per cent chance conceiving she had left would be lost if she had radiotherapy."It was up to Vicky to make the decision and family is very important to her. "We talked about it and she said she would hate the thought of losing any chance she had left for children."So she decided to take the risk and not have the radiotherapy."It has been over a year now so the odds of the cancer returning are much lower and the miracle we thought would never happen has."We were worried at first because when she started feeling sick we thought it might have been something more serious again."When we found out it was because she was pregnant we were ecstatic."We were planning to get married next year but Vicky still wanted to wear the dress she picked out so everything was moved to Saturday. "We've been lucky with cancellations along the way, fate is definitely on our side, and Vicky has loved every hectic minute of it."Rob and Vicky plan to have a short break in London and save the honeymoon budget to spend on their baby, which is due in January.
