A village amateur-dramatic group which regularly performs in front of sell-out audiences will take to the stage this weekend.

Shipham Players will perform a show made up of two one-act plays at the village hall, in New Road, on Friday and Saturday at 7.30pm.

The group is known for its quality performances, and its pantomime Snow White earned rave reviews in the village earlier this year.

The players will perform Talk In The Park, by Alan Ayckbourn, followed by Tom Basden’s play Party.

Talk In The Park depicts five self-absorbed characters on park benches, sharing tales of loneliness.

Party focuses on four idealists who create a new political party in the midst of the credit crunch from a humble garden shed, hoping to save the world from itself.

Tickets, which include a ploughman’s supper and a glass of wine, cost £15 and are available from Hansford’s, in The Square.
